Tanza is the place where Emilio Aguinaldo was sworn as the president of the revolutionary government of the Philippines, in front of the ancient Santa Cruz or Holy Cross (the titular of Tanza's main Catholic parish).
The lowland municipality of Tanza is located in the northwestern part of Cavite. It is bounded by the Municipality of Rosario in the north, the Municipality of Gen. Trias in the east, by Trece Martires City and the Municipality of Naic in the south, and the Manila Bay in the west.

Tanza which is now a first-class municipality, gained a distinguished spot in Philippine history. The officials of the Revolutionary Government elected in Tejeros Convention led by Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo, were sworn into office by Fr. Cenon Villafranca before a crucifix in the convent of Santa Cruz de Malabon, on the evening of March 22, 1897.
