Mariano Ponce y Collantes (Spanish: [maɾjˈano pˈonθe]; March 22, 1863 – May 23, 1918) commonly known as just Mariano Ponce was a Filipino physician, writer, statesman, and active member of the Propaganda Movement. In Spain, he was among the founders of La Solidaridad and Asociación Hispano-Filipino.
With Graciano Lopez-Jaena, Mariano Ponce co-founded the periodical La Solidaridad in February 1889; served as its administrator and headed its literary section. He wrote about travel, politics and history under the pseudonyms Kalipulako, Naning and Tikbalang.

On March 23, 1863, Mariano Ponce, a Filipino physician noted for his works and contribution in the Philippine Revolution, was born in Baliuag, Bulacan. Ponce took his medical degree at the University of Santo Tomas, then traveled to Spain to finish his advanced studies at the Universidad Central de Madrid in 1889.
With the help of a Filipino-Japanese named José Ramos Ishikawa, Ponce purchased weapons and munition for the revolution. But the shipment did not reach the Philippines due to a typhoon off the coast of Formosa. Mariano returned to Manila with his wife, a Japanese girl named Okiyo Udanwara.
Mariano Ponce was born in Baliuag, Bulacan, on March 22, 1863, the eldest of the seven children of Mariano Ponce and Maria Collantes de los Santos. He had his early schooling in his home town and finished his secondary education in the private school of Juan Evangelista, Hugo Ilagan and Escolastico Salandanan in Manila.
