It feels like the Bad Buddy series is a alternate universe fanfiction rather than an adaption of the novel. I could see people who read the novel beforehand being disappointed by it. That being said I adore the series and wouldn't change anything about it. Reading the novel was very interesting, it was the first Thai BL novel I've read.
Every post on "BL recs" and "best BL series" has so many mentions of Bad Buddy. So, I bit into the hype and watched it and was disappointed. DISCLAIMER: I understand that everyone has different tastes and expectations from a series. If you liked this series, great! I did not, and this rant is my "why." Also SPOILERS.

Nov 28, 2021 · Still hard to say how you will find Bad Buddy since the series you like seem to be so different. I found My Engineer light, frothy and comedic but not particularly outstanding. I loved Still 2Gether…it was great light entertainment but with little depth. Bad Buddy is more intense even if it does have the usual mindless university student antics.

I did know from the beginning that the drama took a sharp turn from the novel. The show was a romantic comedy.
