Filled out Arrivecan online via the website and printed out the QR code. I did not use the App. Sailed straight through customs after using the self service machine to do our customs declaration. Border control never even asked to see the Arrivecan form and I was never required to show it to anyone in Canada.

Yes you circumvent the long lines - there are 2 kiosk sections - the main big area - and to the right there is signage to push you to a very small area with a small number of kiosks - this is for the ArriveCAN and other prechecked folks - the kiosk asks a much smaller number of questions - pops out your receipt, you have separate customs agents and I have been waved through each time - same ...
