But then I just looked it up and the movie wasn't released until June, 1963. And ADVENTURE 291 had cover date of Dec. 1961, which means it would have been on the stands probably no later than early October -- and written and drawn some 3-4 months prior to that, which means Mort must have approved that cover idea around June of 1961 sometime, two years before the movie was released.
Batgirl and Doom Patrol both have been prrviously collected within the last ten years; Aquaman mirrors a Showcase from c18 years back, and Plastic Man after the Archives from c23-24 years ago. Parts of Catwoman haven't been available in more than 30y, other parts as recently as 2019. (N.B.
Aug 24, 2024 · It's not surprising that a long-time fan would play Monday morning quarterback for the contents of such a broad collection: I would have liked to see the origins of Aquaman and Robin. And instead of the BA Wonder Woman re-origin, i would have prefered the SA WW origin. But whatever. Including Capt Marvel and Plastic Man was a nice touch.
