Oct 31, 2024 · I enjoy Paul W.S. Anderson's movies as throw away entertainment with nothing to say. Not all of them, some of them don't manage that, but many of them do, for me at least! I only like about half of the RE movies he directed. But I genuinely enjoyed AvP, Pompei, and The Three Musketeers, which I think puts me in a very small group.
Oct 31, 2024 · Deadline got it as "exclusive concept art," and it totally is; that chainsaw looks like a mess and that zombie picture looks more and more like a drug trip the more you look at it. Interesting marketing strategy, since it sure as hell makes me not want to touch the movie with a ten foot pole.
Sep 2, 2024 · It got me thinking: should Paul W. S. Anderson revisit the series? I don't think I know enough about his recent material, but I personally love the flavor of his Mortal Kombat movie. I don't rate much of the rest of his work aside from Event Horizon, but he honestly delivered one of my favorite 90s popcorn movies with MK '95, and I wonder how he could adapt that flavor with a modern movie.
Sep 20, 2024 · I love more of Paul W.S. Andersons movies than most people. Not all of them, but sometimes he manages to make something throwaway and fun if you aren't looking for any depth. Plus the dude knows how to lay out the geography of a film better than most which sometimes (though not always) elevates his stuff.
