John Gau (c. 1495 – 1553), Scottish translator, was born in Perth towards the close of the 15th century. He was educated in St Salvator's College, St Andrews. He appears to have been in residence in Malmö, Sweden, in 1533, perhaps as chaplain to the Scots community there.

Apr 2, 2024 · The Haileybury Society is saddened to learn of the death of John Glen Mackay Gau, CBE (K 54) who has died on 3 rd March 2024, aged 83. At Haileybury John was a Scholar and Prefect, going on to Trinity Hall College Cambridge to read Classical, Medieval and Modern Languages.
