Creve Coeur was one of many unincorporated communities that grew along the road. Its name, which means broken heart in French, comes from nearby Creve Coeur Lake. Legend has it that an Indian princess fell in love with a French fur trapper, but the love was not returned.
Creve Coeur Parks. The City of Creve Coeur has six beautiful parks for the community to enjoy, offering a variety of walking paths, playgrounds, athletic courts and more! All parks open at dawn and close at dusk.
Parks and Recreation Department. The Parks and Recreation Department coordinates recreational programs and events for residents of all ages; manages all room, field and pavilion reservations for city properties; and manages the municipal golf course and ice arena.
The Creve Coeur Ice Arena is an indoor facility located within the Dielmann Recreation Complex and is open year-round. The Ice Arena offers: Clubs and Organizations; Learn to Skate Program; Public Session Calendar; Stick & Puck Sessions; Air Quality. The Creve Coeur Ice Arena has measures in place to monitor the air quality within the ice rink.
