  2. The Birmingham Zoo is a zoological park that opened in 1955 in Birmingham, Alabama, United States. The Birmingham Zoo is an independent, not for profit, 501(c)(3) organization, and is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), participating in AZA Species Survival Plans (SSP).

Birmingham Zoo is closed Monday & Tuesday unless open for a holiday. Entry into the Zoo stops 30 minutes before closing. Duration: 1-2 hours. Meets animal welfare guidelines.
