  1. Apr 21, 2023 · Beau was on the cusp of finally breaking free from fear for the very first time in his life, but he succumbs to his conscience and sabotages himself, accepting that he'll never not be afraid. Even if Beau is still alive, he'll be living the rest of his life forever meek and unable to stand up for himself ever again, which the scene argues is essentially death, not a valid way of living.

  2. Those questions were the crux of the paint drama. Pink and blue can't cover up the truth that Beau was reviled and abused. Nope, Mona loathed you and blamed you for your own abuse. In many ways, Grace behaves like a better version of Mona, and that's why he invented her, to give him a good version of Mother.

  5. May 1, 2023 · SPOILER. Beau Is Afraid - Theory Of What Happens. Beau actually murders all the victims we see in the film. I really think it's that simple. The twist is that Aster has us experience the film through Beau's mind (of a paranoid schizophrenic), which makes us believe nonsensical things are happening. Ala Bill Pullman in Lost Highway, who says "I ...

  6. Apr 22, 2023 · My interpretation of Beau is Afraid *spoilers obviously*. Might have gotten a little rambly by the end but here it goes: I am certain that Beau's entire life is a Truman-show esque play orchestrated by his incredibly wealthy and narcissistic mother to punish him for "not loving her enough," It checks out with the photo near the end with all of ...

  7. Apr 23, 2023 · Hereditary is a flawless and an incredibly tight script, and Midsommer is a feast for sight and sound. Both are ambitious without being as unbridledly abstract as Beau. As for my opinions about Beau is Afraid, I can't help but make the comparison to I'm Thinking of Ending Things which has similar goals but achieves them much more gracefully.

  8. Beau’s mother is the God, a cruel, narcissistic bitch, (the film has said “sometimes she looks like a man”), who uses fear to control Beau, surveying his every move, telling all he has to do is love her. However, simultaneously, she set up endless unreasonable “tests” to torture him to prove he “doesn’t love her enough”.

  9. Meh, don’t watch it if you didn’t like the first hour. It’s the best part of the movie. Îm a huge fan of Midsommar, but I think he dropped the ball on this one. It’s an unpopular opinion among Aster fans, but I believe Beau is Afraid is a self-indulgent uninteresting mess that ultimately does not mean much.

I just want to briefly explain my background and expectations going into this movie. Midsommar and Hereditary are my top two favorite horror movies for various reasons so I went into this movie with extremely high ...
