Alfred James Golden Jr. [1] (born July 4, 1969) is an American football coach and former tight end who is the defensive coordinator of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He served as the head football coach for the Temple Owls from 2006 to 2010 and the Miami Hurricanes from 2011 to 2015.
Golden’s first head coaching assignment came at Temple, where he sparked one of the greatest turnarounds in college football history. Golden led the Owls to winning records in each of his last two seasons, after the school had achieved just two total winning seasons over its previous 26 years.
