Roces, who would have turned 81 in July 28, died on Friday evening, her daughter Sen. Grace Poe confirmed in a family statement to ABS-CBN News.

Roces died on May 20, 2022, at the age of 80, due to cardiopulmonary arrest. A day earlier, she was rushed to the Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan, Metro Manila because of chest pain and difficulty in breathing. Her daughter Grace Poe had also said "My mother is already old." The cause of her death was listed as heart failure.
