Witnesses have legal rights during these inquiries, such as the right to counsel and the right against self-incrimination.
But yep, this is how senate hearings work. Does that mean the one who proposed the hearing sees a potential loophole of the law, and therefore a hearing is required to gather facts? And if there is indeed a loophole found after the hearing then the Senate can propose an amendment to said law?
