A great many Indie artists become popular and go on to major record labels relatively quick, mainly due to the growing number of Indie radio stations and the large number of college stations dedicated to Indie Rock.

Albums like Birth Of The Cool, Kind Of Blue, E.S.P., Filles de Kilimanjaro, Bitches Brew, A Tribute To Jack Johnson, On The Corner, were not just influential, the music from those albums changed jazz and totally expanded its boundaries and pushed jazz on to new directions. For any artist to change music once is a great achievement.

There are many blues songs which these artists have transformed into popular rock songs. Songs that barely resemble the original.
