It is counterintuitive because you are not actually setting up a new account. But once you click to add a new account you can choose to sign in with your Microsoft account in the Launcher. Once you do that, it will automatically use the Microsoft account to log you in from the Launcher. And my worlds were there without change.

Jan 23, 2024 · If you didn't migrate it last year your accounts disappear & you have to buy Minecraft again. If you haven't played MC for awhile you're basically screwed. It sucks especially if you somehow can't get into your email even if you did migrate your account but Mojang did give MC players a heads up to migrate your account for a while. Reply reply.
