The Minecraft stuff will still be obfuscated, but the mod's code generally won't be, and you can usually get a good idea on how someone did something. It's not illegal, but if you just copy someone's code without their permission it could violate their copyright, and as Tspro said it's immoral.

Feb 22, 2012 · you should aslo take into account that their are a few different ways to install mods. such as modloader and timber. both of these mods are installed directly into the minecraft.jar however mods like mo creatures (Drzhark) Tomes mod (PinkEmma) and my mods go into the .minecraft/mods folder. this can often make the difference from a black screen ...
Feb 22, 2021 · Sort your mods alphabetically. Add ALL the A-s and test,(it could be A through D, etc) does it work? If yes add the next block and so on. When you find a problem cut back on the number of mods you add in that block until you isolate which mod (mods) are causing the problem. Don't assume because you found one bad Mod that the problem is fixed!
