In a colloquial register, one often says “Hi guys”, and one uses this irrespective of the gender distribution in the group addressed. A more Southern-sounding version is “Hey y’all”. An extremely informal version is “Hello people”.
3 If it is a formal letter, then you can use 'Dear Sirs' but if it is informal, simply 'Hi' is fine. 'Hi' addresses either one person or many, the same as 'you' refers to one person or many. Feb 18, 2015 · I need to write a formal letter to a group of people consisting of two females and two males. One of the females is unmarried. "Dear Sirs" must be out of the question. "Dear Madam / Miss / Sirs" also doesn't sound right; "dear all", "hello" or "hi" all sound to informal.
