What they’re basically doing is spacing out the 2 hour long movie into episodes, adding some extra scenes, and even added an anime-original prologue episode. They claim they’re doing this to bridge the gap between seasons 1 and 2 together.
Dec 20, 2021 · Basically nothing is changed in the train arc, only the first episode was about something that wasn’t in the movie. Thanks, I'm gonna get on it as soon as this season finishes, gonna skip the movie. Episode 1 is new, watch that first. 2-7 or movie doesn't matter, they are near identical. If you are planning on binging go with the movie.
Oct 11, 2021 · Please join us there. So how is the Mugen Train arc different from the movie? It features extra scenes, some new soundtrack music and the first episode is completely unseen as it is a slight prequel to the movie. Oh nice, was worried it would be the same thing, just in episodic format.
Then saw this was out, was an hour 45 minutes at the movie theater and assumed it must be movie of the entire arc but just pieces of each episode and later the full arc with the full story is released. Come to find out while watching the movie, the first hour is the previous episode.
Feb 26, 2024 · Anyway the quality available for that movie right now is only CAM version. Wait few days/week, higher quality is not available anywhere at the moment. It's a theatre release, right? So there is no point unless a Blu-ray version is out which usually takes 8-12 months. Unless you're fine with CAM prints.

Edit: to actually answer your question; the movie is not a shortened version of the anime season, the anime season has the exact same content as the movie and crumbs of extra content (besides episode 1) and is actually just a lamer version of the movie because of the addition of openings and endings and things interrupting the action and catching you up on what happened in the last episode ...
Dec 7, 2021 · Well, either is fine. Personally, I think the movie is better overall than the TV version of that story, although the first episode of that arc was a new prequel that leads into it. So either way, you should watch the first episode of the TV version and then decide if you want to keep going or switch to the movie. Reply reply.
