Apr 23, 2016 · Also, Bali who is also a chiranjeevi is supposed to become the next Indra in the some future Manvantara as per boon granted by Lord Vishnu during Trivikrama avatara. So, the only meaningful outcome is that Chiranjeevi doesn't mean immortality in true sense. It is not state of moksha but mere increased longivity of the subject in discussion.

Yes, certainly Shree Ved-Vyasa is still alive. He being Chiranjeevi (immortal) is still alive. The answer is clearly given about him in Shreemad Bhagvat Purana - Skandha 8 - Chapter 13 - Shloka 15-16. It's said in those shlokas that Ved-Vyasa is still alive and living in their respective ashramas by Yog-Bala or Yogic Power.

This means, we should have an infinite number of them now. Else, they should die at some point of time. When and how does this death happen?

Kripacharya was blessed with longetivity till the end of the Kalpa (Chiranjeevi) and also is scheduled to become one of the Saptarishis of the next Manvantara, as I discuss in this answer. Also, after the Mahabharata war, as discussed in this answer: Kripa was installed as the preceptor and Parikshit was made over to him as his disciple.
