I used those temporary number websites I found. Some numbers don't work but if you're lucky enough you'll find one that works.

Mobile numbers are likely required so that they can match your ChatGPT queries against information about you, which they can purchase cheaply from “data brokers”, based on your strongly authenticated identity information (like mobile number).
