Cotabato City, officially the City of Cotabato (Maguindanaon: Kuta nu Kutawatu, Jawi: كوت نو كوتوات ; Cebuano: Dakbayan sa Cotabato; Filipino: Lungsod ng Cotabato), is a first class independent component city in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Philippines.
Cotabato City is a coastal independent component city in the SOCCSKSARGEN region. Although administratively independent due to its distinction as independent component city, Cotabato City is commonly grouped with the province of Maguindanao.
Based on the 2020 census, Cotabato has an overall population of 1,275,185. [2] The average population growth rate was 2.27% in the period 2010–2015, which is higher than the national average of 1.72%. The province had a density of 140 inhabitants per square kilometre or 360 inhabitants per square mile.
