The film tells the story of Chato (Vilma Santos), who starts out as the assistant of the burlesque theater’s most famous dancer, Virgie (Rosemarie Gil). Chato works for Virgie because her father Roque (Leopoldo Salcedo) is crippled and she simply wants to buy him a wheelchair, and to see him happy.
