Aug 6, 2020 · Turn off the Synology Product (skip this step for models that support disk hot swapping). Replace the first internal hard drive with a larger hard drive. Turn on the Synology Product and repair the volume or Disk Group. Repeat step 1 to 3 until all internal hard drives are replaced with larger hard drives.

Apr 12, 2020 · 3) Use synology assistant to find the DS, and see write down which IP number is assigned to use that later as a fixed IP. 4) set the admin user password again. 5) do NOT change any setting and keep the IP that was initially given as the default/fixed ip (do not change). 6) Make a reservation for this fixed IP in your router.
Feb 17, 2020 · Hi, I have a DS218+ with a single Seagate Ironwolf HDD ST8000VN0022 that has nothing but my movie collection and thought I would never reach the point of adding a 2nd HDD, but I did, so now I am faced with the questions of how to properly add the 2nd (same) HDD as more storage space.
May 23, 2023 · Thanks Synology for this release.. I have a DS218+ with 6GB of RAM but I won't update right now. Based on the release notes, there isn't much for me there.. Among that there isn't much for me there, other reasons to hold the update are: 1- Using Plex from plex.tv (this version do not support 7.2 yet).

Apr 13, 2018 · It's quite simple: the Realtek RTD1296 in your DS218 is not a x86_64 cpu. Docker on Synology requires a x86_64 cpu. A DS218+ on the other hand has an Intel Celeron J3355, which is a x86_64 cpu.
Mar 28, 2019 · After asking me permission to reformat/erase the 2nd HD, and me saying 'go for it', the DS218+ worked on incorporating that 2nd disk. Twelve hours later, I have one Storage Pool comprised of 2 physical HDs, the Synology SHR is running fine and the redundant copy of data now exists.
Oct 13, 2018 · I've read lots of posts on RAM upgrades for the DS218+ and just wanted to quickly share my personal experience. I bought this Crucial 8GB module , plugged it in and the unit is working perfectly on 10GB without any issues.
