Calhoun Falls is a town in Abbeville County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 1,724 at the 2020 census, down from 2,004 at the 2010 census. The town derives its name from James Edward Colhoun (or Calhoun).
Calhoun Falls State Park sits astride several pine-covered points jutting into Lake Russell, one of the least-developed large reservoirs in South Carolina. Besides providing access to the big Savannah River lake, the park offers camping, picnicking, fishing, a tennis court, playground, seasonal swimming area and hiking.
Nearly all were spaced farther away from each other than many other state parks and the many spots were perched over the water with a great view. Many spots have plenty of shade from trees which also increase the privacy from spot to spot. Group facilities are very nice and the lake is gorgeous.
