He was a risk-taking, brash, and often opportunistic visionary who used his title, connections, and money to build one of the largest and most important real estate empires in the greater New York area.
It was the biggest fire in New York State history to date. In 1907, at the age of 40, William then spent $10 million to develop Long Beach. He had approximately 3,800 lots, with each house costing at least $7,000. He then built Reynolds Channel and the Long Beach Hotel. William Reynolds passed away on October 14, 1931 at the age of 63. #
