Fiľakovo (Slovak pronunciation: [ˈfiʎakɔʋɔ]; Hungarian: Fülek, German: Fülleck, Turkish: Filek) is a town in the Banská Bystrica Region of south-central Slovakia. Historically it was located in Nógrád County, as part of the Nógrád, Novohrad, "Newcastle" region.
The distinct dominant of the town Fiľakovo on the Slovak-Hungarian frontier are the ruins of its Castle, which survived the Tartar raids in the 13th century.
The slovakian centre of the cross-border Novohrad-Nógrád Geopark is Fiľakovo town. The first written records about the town date from the first half of the 13th century. As early as that there was a settlement under protection of the strong castle.
Na križovatke niekdajších dôležitých obchodných ciest Uhorska sa nachádza malebné mesto FIĽAKOVO. Preslávil ho stredoveký kamenný hrad v centre mesta, postavený na vulkanickom tufe. Do širokého povedomia sa dostal prostredníctvom tradičného odvetvia – smaltovníctva.
Fiľakovo Castle is considered to be one of the oldest stone buildings in Slovakia, although most of the buildings and fortifications that have survived to this day are of late medieval and early modern origin. The castle has been undergoing successive conservation works since 1972.

Cez Fiľakovo tečie potok Belina (pramení SZ od kóty Karancs 725 m) s dĺžkou povodia 21 km. Jeho prítokom je Čamovský potok. Belina sa pri Prši vlieva do Suchej . Vo Fiľakove je niekoľko minerálnych prameňov, zemitých kyseliek, zvaných šťavice.
