SYNOPSIS: At 3:00 PM today, the center of the eye of Typhoon "JULIAN" {KRATHON} was estimated based on all available data at 80 km West of Basco, Batanes (20.5°N, 121.2°E) with maximum sustained winds of 175 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 215 km/h.

SYNOPSIS: At 3:00 PM today, the center of the eye of Typhoon "JULIAN" {KRATHON} was estimated based on all available data at 80 km West of Basco, Batanes (20.5°N, 121.2°E) with maximum sustained winds of 175 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 215 km/h. It is moving West Northwestward at 15 km/h.
JULIAN is forecast to reach super typhoon category within the next 24 hours, although there is possibility that the typhoon has already reached its peak intensity. Increasing interaction with the mountainous terrain of Taiwan will slightly weaken JULIAN prior to making landfall.
