Since its incorporation in 1956, the Village of Schaumburg has grown from a population of 130 to what is now the 12th largest community in Illinois. The population increase in the Village from the mid-1960s to 1990 was one of the fastest in the country.
Village Facilities and Hours of Operation. Dial 311 for Operator Assistance when in Schaumburg or dial 847-895-4500. The 311 phone is staffed 24/7 including weekends and holidays to assist callers with general questions or for reporting non-emergency issues (i.e. tall grass).

Development within the village is guided by the Design Guidelines and Community Plans adopted by the Village and regulated through the Zoning Ordinance, Chapter 154 of the Municipal Code.
