The comics comes from a guy who hated superheroes but could only make money off of a superhero comic. The show comes from a guy who read the comics, thought they could be used so much better, and framed it around social commentary, class struggles, and unchecked power while giving the characters more respect than the comics ever managed.
I’m a Garth Ennis fan. Preacher and his Hellblazer run are some of my favorite comics of all time. I enjoy his historical war comics and his various Punisher runs (especially Max). Hitman and Demon are awesome. Some of his newer creator owned work like A Walk Through Hell I even found to be underrated and overlooked. But The Boys isn’t good.

Here’s the real answer: Read the comics. If you like the characters in the boys you will enjoy reading more in depth about them and Considering the shows storyline (and come character like jack from Jupiter) differs from the comics it will feel like a whole new addition or universe of the story.

Sep 4, 2022 · The Boys is just as salient a commentary on the superhero genre as Watchmen—perhaps even more so. Ennis digs deep into the adolescent power fantasy that defines superhero comics and starkly shows it as being, actually, a expression of spiritual weakness.
In the comics The Boys greatest weapon isn't Compound V, is their slow and methodical detective work to blackmail the supes and collect evidence of their abuses. He goes at lenght with this in his "Barbary Coast storyline" (the one with the Payback flashback) where the character of Mallory basically serves as a voice of god for Ennis.
Aug 11, 2022 · The comics are dark and cruel for very little reason. Like there is a Jesus themed superhero that has 12 “disciple” sidekicks, all little boys, it’s stated that he rapes them. During herogasm a hero casually mentions that they are smoking baby fetus.
Jun 16, 2022 · Femboy comics There was a series of about 20-25 comics that included this black haired femboy who kept stealing his sisters clothes, etc. i think I found them all (I can post the archive site, it has most/all his works from like, 2011 onwards) but since his site was removed I’m not sure if I have all of them.
Jan 25, 2021 · The comics are not as good as the show. The show does better with less. The characters have more depth. And the comic is definitely more edgy for the sake of edginess. Homelander in the comics is also a shell of a character that he is on the boys. So is basically everyone on the 7 in the comics.
