  1. Jul 24, 2020 · The counterfeit item has a low-quality sticker attached to the side. Picture 3: The most noticeable difference, the strings themselves are different. Notice that the genuine item has a GOLDEN color. They also feel very smooth. The counterfeit guitar strings do not have a coating so they feel rough as well as being a dull-brass color.

Jul 29, 2024 · Feb 2, 2024. #11. anonymous human said: Having a good amount of experience with both Elixir Optiweb and D'Addario XS, my honest opinion is that the XS strings don't even come close to Elixir's. After about a week of playing with the XS coated strings, the plain steels start to turn black and at a week and a half I can feel they start to corrode.

  3. In the lesson below, Chris of The Chris Woods Groove Orchestra uses a Martin 000x1 with a mimesis kudos pickup always strung with Elixir® Acoustic Phosphor Bronze Strings with NANOWEB® Coating Light/Medium Gauge. These strings provide a smooth feel and a rich and full tone that lasts and lasts. With the help of these Elixir® Strings, Chris ...

  4. May 8, 2022 · In the summer on outdoor gigs, nano webs are the only strings I can use on humbucker guitars that won’t die during the first song. However I put a set of nanoweb 9’s on a Hwy 1 Tele I had awhile back, and it made the guitar sound so harsh and terrible I thought the pickups we’re damaged. Replaced the nanowebs with a standard set of GHS ...

  5. Nov 10, 2020 · Zeyer nailed it. Optis feel more like regular strings (wound ones). I noticed that the coating seems to come off less on the optis. Elixirs are different tension compared to most strings. You like that or you don't. The best part is that while eb slinkies sound great (let's say 100%) for a day or two tops, then rapidly decline from there.

  6. Jan 10, 2019 · Jan 9, 2019. #4. pattste said: Both manufacturers publish string tension charts. The NYXL 10-46 are 102.28 lbs and the Elixir Nanoweb and Optiweb of the same gauge are 103 lbs. I doubt the difference is noticeable. There has to be another factor at play. Yeah, 0.72lb can't be enough to make that difference.

  7. Jun 17, 2013 · I sweat alot when I play and I practice in a band setting 2-4 times a week. I wear out normal strings quite fast. But I am too lazy to change strings often. I use Elixir 11's on my Tele and Strat and change strings when I remember that I havent done it for a long time. That means about 2-3 months. Sometimes even longer. I really like them.

  8. Dec 26, 2016 · For lifespan, Elixir definitely saves you time between changes. Though I would also argue that I like their tone a bit better than Ernie Ball's. [br]They just kinda feel cleaner and are smoother to play. To me, I've always thought they had more warmth to their tone, which I really like.

  9. Nov 11, 2019 · Anyone else have experience with Elixir strings and can understand my dilemna as a beginner with these strings. It totally changed the sound of my guitar. And when changing to G major, my finger index finger (one fretting the 6th string) just loves to slide. you may say to change right back, but the issue initially was the other ones at the 1st 2nd fret on the higher strings B,E were very ...

  10. May 16, 2015 · That said, I've never heard this guitar with any other strings on it. ;-) I plan to put d'addario's (my string of choice) on just to hear what they sound like. The guitar very recently had a neck reset so I'm hesitant to add additional tension on the neck if Elixir's in fact add more tension.
