  2. Dec 10, 2007 · once, back in about '74, Micky Norton took me to a party out at a council estate (?) at Balloon Woods (?). This was the weirdest place I ever went to in my entire life! (Sorry if you live there and love it) Mostly it seemed to be apartments and some had no doors or floors - Micky told me that folks used them for firewood!

He passed the 11-plus (or whatever it was in those days) but insisted on going to Cottesmore because he was a footballer and High Pavement was a rugby school.

The blond DJ you mention might have been Pete Smith. Among other venues, he was a regular at 'Brummies' next to Warrow's. I occassionly covered for him there when he was double- booked.

  10. Oct 15, 2013 · October 15, 2013. Most of the Nottingham area used to be moderately hard. It has advantages for those of you still with lead pipes, usually underground. The lime in the water puts a lining inside the pipe and prevents small amounts of lead leeching into the water. Soft water,apparently is not good long term.
