Kamikaze aircraft were pilot-guided explosive missiles, purpose-built or converted from conventional aircraft. Pilots would attempt to crash their aircraft into enemy ships in what was called a "body attack" ( tai-atari ) in aircraft loaded with bombs, torpedoes , and/or other explosives.

Feb 7, 2024 · The Okha (meaning cherry blossom in Japanese), is a rocket-powered human-guided kamikaze attack aircraft built by the Japanese solely for the purpose of being a Kamikaze plane. Though the Okha was extremely fast, it could fly only a very short range.
Although suicide attacks had been used haphazardly before, the kamikaze campaign trained attack squadrons specifically for this purpose, and brought into combat a new aircraft - the Yokosuka MXY-7 Ohka - the only jet-powered suicide aircraft.
