You can't take books out, but you can use our Reading Rooms in London and Yorkshire for personal study and to access our collection. All you need is a free Reader Pass. Our users include academic researchers, undergraduate and postgraduate students and members of the public.
Legal deposit is the statutory obligation to deposit at least one copy of every publication from the UK and Ireland, free of charge, at the British Library and other designated deposit libraries. We are currently unable to receive digital legal deposit content via the publisher submission portal.
