Some 1,500 incoming freshman students took the two-day Pangasinan Polytechnic College Admission Test (PPCAT) held last July 15 and 16 at the Provincial Training and Development Center (PTDC).
It is composed of four cities—Dagupan, Alaminos, Urdaneta, and San Carlos—and 44 municipalities. Pangasinan is bounded on the north by the Lingayen Gulf, La Union, and Benguet; Nueva Vizcaya on the north-east portion and Nueva Ecija on the east; Tarlac on the south and the China Sea on the west.
Fast-forward to 1580, Pangasinan became a political entity with an “alkalde mayor” leading the province’s affairs. However, the most crucial milestone in its history was April 5, 1580, recognized as Pangasinan’s official founding day.

The third biggest province in the Philippines is home to rich and fine salt beds from which its name is derived. The vernacular “panag-asin-an” or Pangasinan means “where salt is made.”.

Pangasinan is a crescent-shaped province that occupies 5,368.82 square kilometers of verdant farmlands, hills, forests and rivers. To the east, it is bounded by the mighty Cordillera Mountains, the Zambales ranges to the west, the rice plains of Tarlac to the south and the Lingayen Gulf and the China Sea to the north.
