CARINA is forecast to steadily intensify and reach severe tropical storm by Monday (22 July). Beginning on Monday, the tropical cyclone intensify further at a faster rate, eventually reaching typhoon category on Tuesday. Rapid intensification during this period is possible.

SYNOPSIS: At 3:00 AM today, the center of Typhoon "CARINA" {GAEMI} was estimated based on all available data at 380 km East of Aparri, Cagayan (18.8°N, 125.2°E) with maximum sustained winds of 130 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 160 km/h. It is moving North Northwestward at 10 km/h.
