概要. 日本の大手ディスプレイメーカーで、主に車載などに使われる小型液晶ディスプレイ(LCD)を製造している。 2021年度のディスプレイ売上高ランキングでは世界9位で [4] 、約1.73%のシェアを占める。 かつてはスマホ向けディスプレイメーカーとして知られ、2018年まではApple社の高級スマートフォンで当社のLCDが採用されていたことにより、小型LCDの出荷額で世界1位を誇った。 しかし、2019年以降にモバイルにおいて有機ELディスプレイ(OLED)の普及が進むにつれて、当社のLCDのシェアは減少し、また当社はスマホ向けOLEDの量産ができないため、2023年にモバイルから撤退を表明。 それ以後は車載および他社への技術ライセンシング事業に主軸を移している。
