Nostradamus was a 16th-century seer. He and his prophecies—revered by some, ridiculed by others—are still well known today, centuries after he lived, and continue to be the subject of debate. Nostradamus was born in France in 1503.
Nostradamus became famous in his own lifetime for publishing a long series of prophecies which continue to mystify, intrigue and (frankly) exasperate us to this day. The fact that he wrote in enigmatic poems, or quatrains, means that his words can be endlessly reinterpreted to fit historical events.
Dec 25, 2023 · In 1555, he produced the first edition of the work that would make him famous across the centuries and around the world. This was Les Prophéties or The Prophecies. Written as a series of poetic quatrains (stanzas of four lines each), Nostradamus organized his predictions into 10 groups of 100 quatrains (give or take).
Predictions. Almost half a millennium after his death, Nostradamus is still history’s most famous astrologer and seer. His number one status is also particularly remarkable when you consider just how strange and cryptic his writings are. Published in 1555, his book Les Propheties lays out his visions in the form of poems known as quatrains.
