St John's College, formally the College of St John the Evangelist in the University of Cambridge, is a constituent college of the University of Cambridge, founded by the Tudor matriarch Lady Margaret Beaufort.
St John's was founded in 1511 and is one of the largest Colleges in Cambridge. Its former students include Nobel Prize winners, Prime Ministers, scientists, artists, and leaders in business and industry.
As well as being a short distance from the University Library and most departments, St John’s has one of the largest college libraries in Cambridge – or two, to be precise.
St John’s is a spectacularly beautiful College located on the River Cam at the heart of the city centre. Founded by Lady Margaret Beaufort in 1511, St John’s combines 500 years of history with pioneering research and award-winning teaching.
