In creating her music, Nova Pon strives to evoke ideas and experiences that are both deeply personal and humanly primal. She holds degrees from University of Calgary and University of British Columbia, and she continues to follow her curiosity in many fields.
Tilting Sunward was inspired by the springtimes I spent living near a pond in a remote forested area. In the piece I sought to evoke the warming winds, dense chatter of frogs, gathering songbirds, dramatic arrival of geese, and more broadly, a sense of an insistent, elemental force, and the gradual stirring and revival of life.

Dec 16, 2011 · It would seem like an evocative and emotive inspiration for an orchestral work, and a very clever form with great expressive potential. This type of form fascinates me, because the process of gradual and inevitable unfolding leading to climactic realization seems like the perfect emulation of the some of the most intense experiences of life itself.
