Irving Schwartz, OC (August 27, 1929 – September 18, 2010) was a Canadian businessman. He was a noted community leader, philanthropist, and humanitarian. He was inducted into the Order of Canada for his work towards ridding the world of landmines, and was later made an officer of the order.

SYDNEY — One of Cape Breton’s most recognizable entrepreneurs and humanitarians, Irving Schwartz, died Saturday morning. He was 81. Paramedics were called to the Schwartz home early in the morning. He died shortly after arriving at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

A former film producer, Irving Schwartz made his directorial debut in 2001 with the movie of his comedic screenplay Larceny. He has written and directed numerous Indie movies including Swatters and Perception. In 2016 Irving published his first novel, Bad Gods, a sci-fi action thriller.

Irving Schwartz has written the crime/satire novels Suburban Stew, Jersey, and Acid Queen, the sci-fi novel Bad Gods and the modern-day fantasy collection Metropolitan Witchcraft which includes the novella combo Thoroughbred & Gatecrashers.
