Mar 27, 2024 · 'These photos' is used when referring to photos that are close to the speaker or in the present context, while 'those photos' is used when referring to photos that are farther away from the speaker or not in the immediate context.

Dec 9, 2021 · So if there were two groups of pictures, and you wanted someone to look at a specific group, you might touch one of them and say "look at these pictures". If you tried to use "the", the listener/reader would be confused as to which group you meant (or they might treat all of them as a single collection).
