Biography. Frederick Marshman Bailey, was the elder son of Major (later Lieutenant Colonel) Frederick Bailey of the Royal Engineers, was born on 3 February 1882 at Lahore, while his father was serving with the Indian Army. He was educated at the Edinburgh Academy, before going to Wellington College and onto the Royal Military College, Sandhurst.
