(AP) — The Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs and star Chris Jones have agreed to the framework of a five-year contract that includes $95 million guaranteed and keeps the All-Pro defensive tackle off the upcoming free-agent market, a person familiar with the deal told The Associated Press late Saturday.
Jones' 75.5 sacks are the fifth-most sacks in franchise history since sacks became an official stat in 1982. His 528.5 sack yards are the third-most in franchise history. Established a single-game career-high with 3.5 sacks (-20.0 yards) of Dallas QB Dak Prescott in Week 11 (11/21/21), including sacks on back-to-back plays in the second quarter with a forced fumble on the second of the two sacks.
