History. It was revealed that shortly after the Secret War, a Skrull agent posed as Contessa de Fontaine in order to spy on Nick Fury and learn as many secrets as possible. However, Fury grew suspicious and killed the agent, who then reverted to her true shape, thus revealing the Secret Invasion to Fury. [1]

Valentina Allegra is a fully trained agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.. She was among the highest-scoring recruits in the class of ’67. 1986 Marvel sourcebooks list her as a S.H.I.E.L.D. Special Director. This is a Level 2 position, so just under Fury. But during the 1970s, her position seemed more junior than that.
