Created as the first U.S. school of international affairs, the Walsh School of Foreign Service vowed to train young leaders to serve the world. Now in its second century, at a time of unprecedented global uncertainty, SFS is called once again to prepare a new generation for foreign service—in new ways that reflect the challenges ahead.
The Master of Science in Foreign Service is a select graduate program that consistently attracts exceptional students from around the world. Please view transcripts of students enrolled in MSFS courses with the understanding that the above standard has been established as of fall 2011.
Enrolling Class Profiles Fall 2022. The class enrolling in Fall 2022 has come from across the globe–including 21 states and countries such as India, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Ecuador, Uganda, the Dominican Republic, Ukraine, and Sweden–to begin their journey as MSFS students.
Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service conferred the first graduate degree in international affairs in 1922, pre-dating the U.S. State Department’s adoption of the term “foreign service.” Since then, more than 4,000 students have completed the Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) degree.
The eight master’s programs at the Walsh School of Foreign Service each manage their own admissions and financial aid processes. All applicants to these programs must submit the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences online application form.
