  2. Action. Description: Mechanism of Action: Tamsulosin is an antagonist of α 1 -adrenoceptors, which mediate smooth muscle tone in the prostate. This leads to the relaxation of smooth muscle in the bladder neck and prostate thereby improving urine flow and reducing the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

  3. Mechanism of Action: Finasteride, a 4-azasteroid, is a competitive inhibitor of type II 5-α reductase. This results in the suppression of the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone, leading to significantly decreased serum dihydrotestosterone (DHT) levels.
