The only man to escape Alcatraz, Mason has been imprisoned for three decades, disavowed by the British government, and his existence concealed by the FBI. FBI Director James Womack deceives Mason with the offer of a pardon and acquiesces to his request to move to a hotel, from which Mason escapes.
