Astoria Park is a 59.96-acre (24.26 ha) public park in the Astoria neighborhood of Queens in New York City. The park is situated on the eastern shore of the Hell Gate , a strait of the East River , between Ditmars Boulevard to the north and Hoyt Avenue to the south.

Although widely known for its beautiful pool, the oldest and largest in the city, Astoria Park offers more than aquatic pleasures. Outdoor tennis courts, a track, a bandstand, multiple trails, basketball courts, and playgrounds lure visitors from the five boroughs and beyond.

Astoria Park, on the west shore of Queens, extends from south of the Triborough Bridge to north of the Hell Gate Bridge. With a panoramic view of the skyscrapers of midtown Manhattan in the south to the Hell Gate channel in the north, the scenery presents the diverse landscape of New York City.
This park is right on the East River with great views of Manhattan. It is at the shore between the Robert F Kennedy and Hellgate Bridges. There is a paved walking area near the shore (Shore Boulevard) with 19th St. at the other edge. There are many sports venues in the park, but I was there to walk. There is a free parking lot .
Astoria Park is the best NYC park to be in at weekends. You are on the waterfront (East River), can fish, view the Hell Gate and RFK Bridges, play soccer or tennis or just lounge in the Sun. Take the N or Q (week days only) trains to either Astoria Boulevard or better still, Ditmars Boulevard and walk west to the water front.

The palette of building materials was mainly inexpensive brick, concrete and cast stone, but the styles ranged from Romanesque Revival to Art Deco. Framed by the Triborough and Hell Gate bridges, Astoria Pool measures 330 by 165 feet and is the largest of the eleven WPA pools.
