Homerton, Hackney. A crowded part of east-central Hackney, dominated by council-built flats. Homerton (pronounced ‘hommətən’) was first recorded in 1343 and takes its name (which was often rendered as ‘Humberton’) from the farm of a woman called Hūnburh.
