The University’s history began in 1822 with the founding of our Lampeter campus. It enjoys the accolade of being the birthplace of higher education in Wales. The University’s 1828 Royal Charter is the oldest of any university in Wales.
University of Wales, Lampeter (Welsh: Prifysgol Cymru, Llanbedr Pont Steffan) was a university in Lampeter, Wales. Founded in 1822, and incorporated by royal charter in 1828, [2] it was the oldest degree awarding institution in Wales, with limited degree awarding powers since 1852.

The University of Wales Trinity Saint David was formed in July 2010 by the merger of the University of Wales, Lampeter and Trinity University College, via a supplementary charter to Lampeter's 1828 royal charter.

The university is located in South West Wales, United Kingdom. It is a multi-campus university with three main campuses in Carmarthen, Lampeter and Swansea. It also has a campus in London, as well as two learning centres in Cardiff and Birmingham.
