  2. The University’s history began in 1822 with the founding of our Lampeter campus. It enjoys the accolade of being the birthplace of higher education in Wales. The University’s 1828 Royal Charter is the oldest of any university in Wales.

  3. University of Wales, Lampeter (Welsh: Prifysgol Cymru, Llanbedr Pont Steffan) was a university in Lampeter, Wales. Founded in 1822, and incorporated by royal charter in 1828, [2] it was the oldest degree awarding institution in Wales, with limited degree awarding powers since 1852.
